What is a Life Transformation Group (LTG)?
Starting with individual meetings one on one to impart the vision of a LTG, it is our goal that these twosomes will become a group of three people. The goal will be add a fourth person and divide again into two groups of two. The strength of a LTG lies with a commitment to a specific LTG Bible reading plan and the goal of reaching others who desire the same community and personal growth. This is an inward, as well as an outward plan of personal discipleship. The LTG’s will meet together as a community to share their discoveries on a periodic basis.
We develop a small group (2-4) which comes together to cultivate spiritual growth focused toward maturity in Christ. Life Transformation Groups lay the foundation for fulfilling our responsibility in The Great Commission of “making disciples/apprentices” of Jesus Christ in all the nations in our time. (Matt. 28:16-20)
- Hearing the Word
The LTG model includes a committment to read the scriptures contextually. This will include a practice of reading several chapters each day. An example of a three month reading plan is:
Week 01: Mark
Week 02: Matthew 1-21
Week 03: Matthew 22-28; Luke 1-7
Week 04: Luke 8-22
Week 05: Luke 23-24; Acts 1-15
Week 06: Acts 16-28; James
Week 07: 1&2 Thessalonians; Galatians; 1 Corinthians
Week 08: 2 Corinthians; Romans
Week 09: Ephesians; Philippians; Colossians; Philemon; Titus; 1&2 Timothy
Week 10: Hebrews; 1&2 Peter; Jude; John 1-4
Week 11: John 5-21
Week 12: 1, 2, 3 John; Revelation
*Each week, every member should complete the agreed upon reading assignment. The goal is not to complete the reading out of duty to check it off the list; the goal is to hear from the Lord. If the reading is not completed, we assume the Lord still has something for us to hear and each member re-reads that section.
- Sharing Life
We suggest a pattern of sharing life around honest reflection of the spiritual growth that is developing in our lives:
We discuss what the Lord is teaching us as he leads us in personal renewal. We celebrate the ways the Lord is transforming our lives as we cooperate with Him. We also confess our sins and failures to one another in a context of honesty, transparency and confidentiality so that we may be healed and restored (James 5:16). We bear one another’s burdens (Gal 6:1-5)
We have developed some Spiritual Growth Questions to help us to pursue these goals. They are designed to focus on pursuing Christlikeness. These questions set the expectation of accountability so that we may also exhort one another to grow away from negative patterns and into new life giving maturity.
We also have utilized Scriptural Model for Growth in 2 Peter chapter one as a guide to sanctification in our personal lives. These practical steps help us to divide our lives into manageable steps of growth so we can actually see our lives change.
- Motivating One Another to Mission
We want to motivate one another toward love and good works that are pleasing to God in Christ (Hebrews 10:23-25). Our mission is to proclaim the powerful Good News of the Father’s work in Christ available through the Holy Spirit to those who are still spiritually lost and dead in the Dominion of Darkness.
We are also supporting one another to seek those who have gotten separated from the Love of Christ and need a helping hand to see their way back to His grace and redemption. We support one another prayerfully and practically to keep our eyes focused outwardly into our community.
We are ready to act in grace and truth so that the One True God may be honored and praised as we seek others with a goal of inviting them into an LTG community.
Who Can Participate in these Groups?
Anyone who realizes his or her desperate need for God’s provision in Christ through the Spirit all the time, in all of life. We cannot face out battles alone, neither can we accomplish our Mission alone. We need one another.
Building Safe Community
The relationships withing the LTG are focused on the Core Values as expressed within The Journey of Thomas material.
Model of Transformation
We use (2 Peter 1:1-10) as one model of working to improve our lives and our character.
